David Naso
is a Full Professor of Automatic Control enrolled at the Department of
Electrical and Information Engineering (DEI) of Politecnico
di Bari. He received both Master (‘94) and Ph.D (‘98) degrees at Politecnico
di Bari. In ’97, during his Ph.D. activities focused on logistics and
optimization algorithms, he was a guest researcher at the Operation Research
Institute, Technical University of Aachen, under the supervision of prof. Hans Jurgen Zimmermann. He also spent the summer 2013vas invited
professor at the Saarland University in Saarbruecken,
Germany, for a collaboration with prof. Stefan Seekecke
on innovative motion and force generators based on smart materials.
He teaches several courses
in the area of feedback control, optimization and system identification. He is
currently the head of the Robotics Lab of at DEI, and the coordinator of the
Master Degree in Automation Engineering.
His research activity
focuses on robust control of aeronautical engines, with particular attention to
innovative form of hybrid or fully electrical solutions, control of high-speed
electrical motors and generators, control of innovative mechatronic devices
based on smart materials, precision motion control, distributed industrial
automation, fault prevention with distributed and intelligent sensor networks.
He has coauthored over 200 international journal or conference papers on these
topics, which in turn have been cited more than 3000 times in scientific
literature (Google Scholar h-index 29). He currently serves a technical
editor of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics.
He has also been the
scientific coordinator of several international and national research projects,
whose overall budget is two millions of Euro, and the
principal investigator of consulting contracts with enterprises for an overall
budget of 400.000 Euro.
The intensive
collaboration of his team with industries has also promoted new and successful
forms of public-private partnership. More specifically, he is one of the
founders and the head of the “Control Systems Team” of “Energy Factory Bari”, an
integrated multidisciplinary laboratory for research in aerospace and energy
based on the partnership between GE Avio and Politecnico di Bari. He is also main supervisor and
actively involved in the public-private partnerships with AROL S.p.A focusing
on innovative robots for food and beverage industry, and with Casillo Group, focusing on distributed control and
monitoring systems for windmill industry.
He sits in the executive
or steering committees of several subsidiary companies of Politecnico
di Bari in the areas of automation, energy, and material science.
ospite presso l'Operation Research
Institute, Technical University
of Aachen, sotto la supervisione del prof. Hans Jurgen
Zimmermann.
dell'Università Saarland a Saarbruecken,
Stefan Seekecke
su dispositivi meccatronici innovativi basati su smart
materials.
in Automation Engineering.
Attualmente
è technical editor della rivista IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics.

Notes:
For class and office
hours, see the calendar above.
Starting last year, in
accordance with the directives of our University, I do not and will no longer
record lessons on teams, with the exception of seminars and make-up lessons
after hours. Attending courses is strongly recommended and essential to achieve
honors. If you have missed lessons and want to catch up on them through videos,
I recommend you sign up to the team from two years ago, the team where you will
find the recorded lessons. I would like to point out that this year I will
introduce new topics, and therefore I do not recommend basing your preparation
only on lessons from previous academic years.
I will accept new requests
more or less every time I log in to Teams, so please do not email me reminders
about this topic. If you don’t have yet access to Teams system because you don’t
have the email yourname@studenti.poliba.it,
then please write me an email with the subject [STFC23 – temporary access to
